Before reaching any decision about whether to start therapy a consultation meeting would take place over one to two sessions for us to meet in person and for you talk about what is troubling you and to discuss your individual needs. The consultation meeting allows us to think together about whether psychotherapy might be helpful and most beneficial to you before any decision to start therapy is reached.
If you feel it would be helpful before proceeding to a consultation meeting for us to have a preliminary telephone conversation to outline your situation and what has led you to think about starting therapy, please click here to get in touch with me to arrange this.
In the consultation meeting practicalities of how to proceed are discussed, including frequency of sessions, fees and the agreed breaks. You must pay for any cancelled or missed sessions outside the agreed breaks. I offer sessions once weekly, twice weekly, or more frequently as agreed. Sessions take place at the same time and day each week. Psychoanalytic psychotherapy is typically open ended but I do offer time- limited therapy where appropriate. I work in person, but in some circumstances I can offer phone and online, to be discussed at the consultation meeting.
